Careers & Futures
At St Gregory’s, we are committed to empowering students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to navigate their future careers. Through diverse experiences, encounters, and guidance, we help every young person make informed choices, realise their potential, and pursue fulfilling careers that positively impact their lives and communities.
Our curriculum is designed to:
- Raise aspirations – Equipping students with the knowledge and skills to thrive in their future careers.
- Extend learning beyond the classroom – Encouraging independence, creativity, and a love of learning.
- Offer personalised opportunities – Helping students develop existing talents and explore new interests.
Careers Education is integral to this, ensuring all students understand the vast opportunities available and make the most of their abilities. We provide a structured Careers Education and Guidance Programme across all year groups, integrating career learning throughout the curriculum.
Our Careers Adviser provides one-to-one support, including tailored guidance for Year 9, Year 11 and Year 13 students making their next steps. We follow the Gatsby Benchmarks for best practice and continually review our provision to offer the best opportunities for our students.
We work closely with local businesses, colleges, universities, alumni, and our wider school community to provide meaningful career experiences. If you’d like to support our Careers Programme, we’d love to hear from you!
We continually review our careers programme to improve it and our Careers and Futures page is reviewed in July of each academic year. Date of next review: July 2026.

Careers provision overview
At St Gregory’s, we are committed to ensuring that all students are well-prepared for their future by equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to make informed decisions about their career paths. Our comprehensive careers programme is embedded across all year groups and provides students with meaningful opportunities to explore a wide range of career options and pathways.
Through a variety of engaging activities such as assemblies, workshops, tutorials, mock interviews, options evenings and taster days, students are encouraged to investigate and plan their futures. Careers education is delivered through curriculum lessons, assemblies, advisory sessions, Tutor time, one-to-one guidance, and dedicated careers events. This includes tailored support for option choices in Year 9 and work experience opportunities in Sixth Form, ensuring students gain practical insights into the world of work.
All students have access to independent and impartial careers advice and guidance, especially during key transition points. In particular, students in Years 11 and 13 benefit from targeted group interviews and personalised 1:1 guidance meetings which support their applications to sixth forms, colleges, apprenticeships, training providers, universities or employment.
Our careers provision aims to inspire ambition, raise aspirations, and prepare every student for the opportunities and challenges of the future.
Careers Programme
Assessing the impact of the Careers programme at St Gregory’s
At St Gregory's, we continuously evaluate the impact of our careers programme to ensure it meets the highest standards for our students. We gather regular feedback through Student Voice activities, which helps us refine and enhance our careers curriculum. Our School Improvement Plan aims to align careers education with curriculum learning, driving sustained improvements.
We also analyse the destinations data of our former students to ensure they are progressing to suitable further education providers. By collecting feedback from stakeholders through virtual questioning, we assess the programme's effectiveness and make ongoing improvements.
Student Voice is crucial in determining whether we are meeting their needs and guiding our efforts to provide the best possible careers education.
