Student Leadership

Developing Student Leadership across St Gregory’s Catholic School is key, as when given the opportunity, young people can have a profound impact on their schools.

Involvement in leadership activities can improve students’ learning as well as helping them to develop the skills and traits needed for success outside of the classroom.

St Gregory’s Catholic School offers a multitude of student leadership opportunities that all students can access including:

School Council

The School Council is a formal group of students who act as representatives for their classmates by discussing school issues with the Headteacher and Staff. Students are elected to the Council to represent the views of all students from Years 7 to 13. The School Council works to implement changes to improve the learning experience and being part of the School Council is an excellent way for children to represent their peers and to contribute to the Student Voice of the school.

Junior Prefect Team

The role of a Junior Prefect is a highly respected and very important one. Not only do younger students look to the Year 10 and Year 11 Junior Prefects as role models, but they are also there to provide help and support to them throughout the many different aspects of their school life. Our Junior Prefects also assist parents and visitors to the school during various events in the school calendar.

Senior Prefect Team

The Sixth Form Senior Prefect Team plays a vital role in the life of the school and the students who are prepared to serve always give so much and receive many skills and experience in return.

House Captains

Students are chosen as Captains for our School Houses: Acutis, Bahkita, Kolbe and Teresa. These House Captains serve as a link between students and staff, representing student voices, organising house events and fostering a positive house culture.

Wellbeing Ambassadors

Students are selected as representatives for our ALIVE values and for their ability to spread positivity. Good mental health and wellbeing helps our children to learn effectively, cope with day-to-day challenges and develop into resilient young adults.
