Kolbe House Crowned Sports Day Champions 2026 as Students Shine on the Field
Students and staff came together for a memorable Sports Day on the school field, enjoying a day of competition, teamwork and house spirit across a wide range of events.
This year's event marked the first Sports Day under St Gregory's new house system, with students representing St Maximilian Kolbe (Red), St Teresa of Calcutta (Blue), St Josephine Bakhita (Green) and Blessed Carlo Acutis (Yellow).
Throughout the day, students competed in track and field events, team sports, relay races and tug of war, supported by staff and Year 12 student leaders.
After a closely contested day of competition, Kolbe House claimed the overall Sports Day championship. Their success reflected consistent performances across the programme of events and the enthusiasm shown by students throughout the day.
A standout sporting achievement came from the Year 9 Teresa relay team, who broke the Sports Day 4x100m record with an exceptional time of 51.9 seconds, setting a new benchmark for future competitors.
The event also highlighted the strength of the St Gregory's community, with colleagues from across the school contributing to the day's success. Alongside the PE Department, staff supported scoring, event management, student supervision, music and entertainment, while students cheered on their houses and celebrated one another's achievements throughout the day.
The PE Department offered thanks to staff and students for their support, recognising the collective effort that helped make Sports Day such a memorable occasion.
The day was a fantastic celebration of participation, perseverance and house pride, creating lasting memories for students and staff alike.
